Course Description
30-Day Go-Kart Design and Fabrication Internship cum Training Program
Mode: Offline & Hybrid
Course Overview:
This is a 30-day Internship cum Training Program that will be conducted in a hybrid mode, consisting of 20 days of online Design & Dynamics Training followed by 10 days of offline Design, Validation, Fabrication & Testing. However, interns have the flexibility to choose either the complete offline or online mode for the program.
This 30-day Go-Kart Design and Fabrication course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques involved in designing, analyzing, and fabricating high-performance go-karts. The course is divided into two components: an online component spanning 20 days, focusing on design and dynamics, and an offline component spanning 10 days, dedicated to hands-on fabrication.
During the online component, participants will delve into various aspects of go-kart design and dynamics. They will learn about chassis design and analysis, suspension systems and geometry, powertrain dynamics, tire behavior and dynamics, vehicle dynamics fundamentals, cornering and handling, aerodynamics, data acquisition and analysis, and track testing and development. The online sessions will be conducted through lectures, demonstrations, interactive discussions, and virtual simulations.
Following the online component, participants will transition to the offline segment, where they will engage in practical fabrication activities. They will gain hands-on experience in fabrication techniques and materials, chassis fabrication, bodywork and component fabrication, powertrain assembly and integration, suspension and steering system assembly, final assembly and integration, and track testing and performance evaluation. The offline sessions will be conducted in a dedicated workshop or fabrication facility, allowing participants to apply their knowledge and skills to fabricate their own go-karts.
Throughout the course, participants will have opportunities to work on design exercises, simulations, and track testing, allowing them to develop a comprehensive understanding of go-kart engineering. The course emphasizes safety considerations, regulations, and the iterative design process to achieve optimal performance. Participants will also learn about data acquisition and analysis, enabling them to make informed design decisions and improvements based on performance data.
By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and practical skills necessary to design, analyze, and fabricate high-performance go-karts. They will have completed a final project, showcasing their ability to integrate all subsystems and present their design and fabrication achievements. This course equips participants with the foundation and experience needed to pursue careers in go-kart engineering, motorsports, or related fields.
